CT Weekly Review - Feb 6th 2022

What a week. Bit of green in the markets getting all your influencers excited they might have actually called the bottom (after failing to do so the last 30 times), the Wormhole exploit of 120k eth, a certain cryptopunk project doing more cringe things to their community, and an abundance of excellent memes as usual. Let's get stuck in

Inversebrah of the week

The IOTW was easy this week, and there are two of them, both including the same accounts in the screen shot. If you're not already aware of the long running banter between cobie and gainzy in threads then this will give you a flavour. Much like an old married couple, the abuse thrown around on the timeline at each other is all done in good fun (i think), and secretly they just want to hug it out :)

You'll have to click this one to see the full screenshot on twitter, it's a big one lmao

Bulma

A trend i'm loving at the moment is the Bulma Reacts. If you've no idea what i'm talking about then just go scroll @cryptobulma feed and you'll see what i mean. If you're on ct and not following Bulma for the shitposts and art, then are you really on ct?

Podcasts

Not really crypto related this week but everyone is talking about it, so regardless of your opinion on the spotify / Joe Rogan drama, i think it's worth hearing the guy out. I think @zhusu quote tweeted this with something like '...entering the phase were public figures are too reasonable to cancel', perfectly sums it up tbh

DownMostly

In what can only be described as a degen version of uponly, there's a new show on ct covering some more of the finer degen elements of the timeline :) If you haven't caught up on @GendoCrypto eating the most vile disgusting smelling food on the planet to save the markets, then you can catch up here (well played sir, still can't believe you ate the whole tin LMAO). Looking forward to see what else this show has to offer in the coming weeks

Market overview

Whilst we've had a bit of green this week, everyone still very much unsure where the market is heading, and whilst your favourite influencer wets their pants in excitement of finally thinking they've called THE bottom, most of us are just dreaming of the uponly days. Good meme by @Dannte_D sums up how most of us feel right now lmao

I think this gives you a flavour of the beeg ct influencer bottom callers (*insert goodfellas laughing gif)

Let's just hope this meme clip doesn't need to be used for next weeks market direction!! Thanks @Th0t_Provoker for the clip

The Unminding project

Thought i'd give a shout out this week to a project doing a weekly spaces on a Thursday at 8pm UTC, because let's face it, if you're in crypto you need to focus on your mental health and this project does just that. Worth a look :)

NFTs

Yet more punk drama this week with larvalabs... Going to be lazy and link yet another cobie tweet, because, well, he explains it so well and adds some memes in at the same time - more of these please cobie :)

So excited for the tubbycats release, artwork is amazing, and i can only see good things coming from a project where there has been no rush to release and so much attention given to the artwork and community

Best meme of the week

Super easy for me to pick this week, as even now looking at it i'm laughing away to myself how accurate this has become for getting on an nft whitelist at the moment LMAO. Needless to say @Heir0nymusmind got a follow from me.

Perhaps a bit egotistical of me to include one of my own memes, but hey, it did serious numbers and got copied / reused quite a bit (always a sign of a good meme imo :)

@Btc_grinder coming out with a banger meme in follow up to the facebook price crash this week

Sometimes the simplicity of a well clipped video can be all you need for the perfect meme reply in a thread. Have saved this for future use @jimtalbot lmao

Hacks

Not a week goes by in crypto where there isn't a scam, hack or an exploit. This week we saw the Wormhole exploit where an attacker exploited a signature verification vulnerability in the network to mint 120k wrapped eth on Solana. Full details in the Medium link below from the Wormhole pinned tweet.

And if you didn't know this, Jump Crypto pretty much instantly covered the loss out of their own pocket for the 120k eth

BAYC hacks are all too commonplace these days, with the majority being down to people just giving away their seed phrase, however, i think this one was more than just the owner being phished for their private keys. Regardless, i'm starting to feel bad for these guys losing their apes :(

Random tweets

Second week in a row i'm including a tweet from a president. I think he's having a lot of fun with the memes lately, something about getting into crypto and memes just go together, is inevitable.

I should have probably put this in the memes section, but it's quite subtle, and if you weren't aware of the Wormhole hack then you probably wouldn't get it. Made me laugh though, good tweet @stockmart_ :)

The gainzy food tweets have almost become his trademark on twitter over the last year or so, and they never get old, chucking one in here this week under Random Tweets for the culture :)

And now just a selection of truly random tweets i saved for this week lol

Best tweet thread

I can't really top the tweet thread i linked last week by @AutismCapital so i'm just going to link it again this week lol. Hopefully something comes along next week to replace it, but if it doesn't, then i'll just ditch this section until something worthy comes along. Anyway, if you missed this last week then it's worth a read through

Well there you have it, another week in crypto summed up by a long list of what I think were the best tweets of the week. Funny to think when I started this I wasn't sure if there would be enough material to do a weekly ct review but now I'm thinking there's too much. It's nuts how much happens in crypto in the space of just one week, but having done three of these now it is clear that anyone in crypto ages at a rate of 7:1 compared to normies who are oblivious completely to crypto. As usual, thanks for reading, and do let me know if there's anything you'd like to see more of in this weekly review. Cheers :)
